A stochastic approach to sediment transport in alluvial rivers.
Abstract
A dimensionless sediment transport function relation for alluvial rivers has been developed using stochastic approach. The dimensionless function may be applied to estimate suspended load, bed load and total load. It is a simple form relating the sediment transport rates to basic flow conditions of velocity and depth, and sediment properties of diameter and weight. Flume experiments and field measurements data are used to verify the function relationships. (A)
