A fault-tolerant best-effort multicast algorithm
Abstract
The paper [1] presented an adaptive best-effort tree construction algorithm. This paper integrates into this base algorithm the fault tolerance capability. We present a protection-based and a restoration-based reroute algorithm which is executed by every node in the network, and an algorithm to compute the degree of tolerance. The algorithms do not use any unicast routing protocol. We demonstrate and verify the operations of the algorithms using computer simulations.
