CORROSION OF BRAZED-ON SHIELD OF STEAM TURBINE BLADES.
Abstract
The corrosion of brazed-on turbine blade erosion shields in sodium chloride solutions has been studied using electrochemical methods. The results show that the steel used in these shields is susceptible to both crevice and galvanic corrosion in this electrolyte. Use of either tool steel or satellite as the base material leads to improved corrosion resistance of these shields.
