Confinement free energy and chain conformations of homopolymers confined between two repulsive walls
Abstract
Chain conformations and confinement free energy of homopolymers confined between two repulsive walls were performed. The confinement free energy cost per chain and the expansion of the chain in the confined solution as a function of concentration and the confinement strength. The parallel dimensions of the confined chain was expanded when the slit width was narrow and the expansion was reduced at high concentration. Extrapolating results suggests that the predictions about the confinement free energy cost per chain in polymer melt is correct as far as the scaling variable is concerned.
