Electro- and Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production by Molecular Cobalt Complexes With Pentadentate Ligands
Abstract
(Formula presented.) The search for efficient production of hydrogen from sunlight and water has received extensive research efforts over the past few years. Among other earth-abundant metals, Co complexes with polydentate ligands have been developed for electro- and photolytic production of hydrogen from aqueous solutions. This review will summarize the recent progress on hydrogen production by Co complexes with pentadentate ligands in terms of their electrochemical and photochemical properties, as well as mechanistic investigations on hydrogen production.
