AN EVOLUTIONARY APPROACH FOR JOB ASSIGNMENT
Abstract
This paper proposes an evolutionary approach for the job assignment problem in the U.S. Navy. In the Navy each sailor should be assigned a new billet before the end of his/her current tour of duty. This paper describes a genetic approach, which given a set of sailors and jobs finds the best possible matching between sailors and jobs taking into account the factors from both the sailor's perspective and the Navy's perspective. Some preliminary results are reported.
