Using Omeka to Bring Women’s History to Online Learners
Abstract
Instructors of online history courses face many challenges in creating online learning environments that encourage student engagement. It can be particularly difficult to avail to distance-learning students similar research opportunities as students in on-campus classrooms. This chapter describes the collaboration between history and library faculty at The University of Memphis to provide exciting local archival material to students in online courses and a digital platform, Omeka, on which to showcase their work.
