Free radical reaction in e-pe immediately after irradiation : Vitamin e mixed before vs. after irradiation
Abstract
In summary, this report presents, for the first time, free-radical results of x-irradiated powder resin mixed with vitamin E before or after irradiation. Maximum difference in the radical reaction is observed within the first day of irradiation. And, from day 2 to day 48 (during this study) the remainder radicals decayed to OIR. The quantitative data of the OIR suggest quenching of the primary radicals by vitamin E, pre- or postmixed. The presence of approximately the same number of vitamin E radicals in both pre- and post-mixed samples seems to be unusual because one was irradiated and the other was not. More work is needed to explain this behavior.
