Essential Tremor: Animal Models
Abstract
Animal models of essential tremor with variable degrees of face, predictive, and etiological validity have been generated with neurotoxins, pharmacological agents, and genetic engineering. The harmaline tremor model which is based on activation of the climbing fiber pathway from the inferior olive to cerebellar Purkinje cells has demonstrated utility as a therapeutic screening tool.
