Self-Report Assessment of Assertive Behavior: A Critical Analysis
Abstract
Self-report scales for the assessment of assertive behavior are reviewed. Special attention is devoted to the issues of norms, reliability of measurement, validity, use of factor analytic strategies, social desirability, and reading difficulty. Nine scales which sample assertive behavior or related cognitions are critiqued. A number of conceptual issues are raised and directions for future research are suggested. © 1983, SAGE Publications, INC. All rights reserved.
