Abstract
Faith-based organizations constitute the majority of voluntary agencies authorized by the U.S. to resettle refugees. Although these agencies provide essential services and networks of support, the rhetoric utilized by some faith-based organizations is problematic and damaging to those they intend to help. This research investigates the relationship between religious and secular forms of humanitarianism by reviewing relevant literature to describe the implications of these organizations and provides and in-depth analysis of World Relief. This paper reveals the necessity of further research to ensure that organizations meant to integrate and welcome refugees are not unknowingly aiding in the assimilation and isolation of human beings.
