Abstract
"Subsistence" is a personal creative project that seeks to respond to Albert Camus' philosophical essay, "The Myth of Sisyphus." It is made up of two short fiction stories and nine poems that address topics of both familial and romantic love, labor, suicide, and hopelessness. "The Myth of Sisyphus" centers on the necessity of embracing the absurd in objection to suicide, and "Subsistence" serves as an illustration of this: creating meaning through art, expression, and rebellion.
