Abstract
Current foreign language education and requirements are insufficient and inconsistent with intended goals. An efficient and innovative way of implementing foreign language education without taking away from core subject areas is using Language Immersion or Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methods to acquire language. Three staff members from a public elementary school in the mid-south are interviewed to provide insight on their Dual Language (DL) program. Results revealed that there is a lack of resources, funding, staffing, and understanding of bilingual education. A survey of over fifty mid-south university students showed that a majority is interested in new methods of foreign language education.
