Abstract
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and other tactical officers are a highly trained and specialized personnel; however, research regarding the physical needs and capabilities of these officers remains limited. Previous studies examined only a small number of officers. This study is meant to add to the body of knowledge, examine various demographics of the officers, and determine which job components are most critical to mission success and are perceived to be the most difficult by the officers. Individual officers will complete an online survey through the program Qualtrics. Data analysis of the demographics and the officers' determination of mission critical tasks can be used to develop a training program and physical fitness test. This study is unique in that it will consist of officers from across the country and from various jurisdictions.
