Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the relationship between mythological and the biblical. Specifically, it will examine the biblical fall's connection to similar mythological versions. Systematically, the biblical fall is compared to Milton's Paradise Lost, so Milton's Epic can be used as a legitimate expanded version. Next, the validated Paradise Lost is compared to the Pandora myth, showing the contextual similarities. The following chapter will compare Milton's version to the Proserpina myth and reveal the metaphorical resemblance. Comparing and showcasing the resemblances between the Pandora and Proserpina myth to Paradise Lost allows the conclusion that the different versions come from the same origin. Furthermore, the biblical version is implied to have the same origins as the myths due to the linking between Paradise Lost and the Bible.
