Built in 1914 at the corner of Union and Cooper, the Union Avenue Methodist church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its sale and demolition were heavily protested both on the streets and in court but to no avail. It was demolished in 2011 and now a CVS pharmacy sits at the location.
