Nicknamed the "Lovin' Kate", the steamer Kate Adams was built in 1898. The boat ferried cotton, cargo, passengers and even starred in the movie "Uncle Tom's Cabin". The steamer caught fire in 1927, only the hull was salvaged, but later sank in 1931 just off President's Island.
