    Description

Erected in 1954, two years after the death of Tom Lee, this memorial plaque sat at the base of a stone obelisk in a section of the Memphis riverfront renamed in his honor. Lee had saved 32 passengers from the sinking steamboat "M.E. Norman" in 1925. The obelisk was knocked over by wind in 2003 and again in 2017.
