OUT Memphis, formerly known as the Memphis Gay & Lesbian Community Center, formed in 1989 and has acted as a community haven. This collection is comprised of Memphis' oldest media, artifacts, and ephemera related to the LGBTQ+ community. OUT Memphis generously donated this collection as the premier collection for the Mid-South LGBTQ+ Archive, with initial funding through the University of Memphis' Community of Research Scholars grant in 2018.
