Abstract

Led by Ashley Roach-Freiman, Library Instruction Curriculum Coordinator and Associate Professor in University Libraries, this presentation examines how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping university teaching and learning. Participants will explore current approaches to GenAI in classroom assignments, considering whether institutions and instructors are choosing to embrace, restrict, or prohibit its use. The session will also address key challenges associated with GenAI, including plagiarism and hallucinations, and how these issues can undermine student learning and academic integrity. Through guided discussion and collaborative activities, attendees will crowdsource practical strategies for thoughtfully and responsibly integrating—or limiting—GenAI in their own teaching contexts.
