BALTIMORE, May 20. FROM ST. BARTOLOMEWS. COMMUNICATED By Captain Daniels of sch'r Eagle information received from St. Lucia on the 6th May, that on the 1st May a Volcano Broke out in the Island of St. Lucia, which did great damage among the inhabitants. A small village at the distance of about four or five leagues from the place where the Volcano broke out, was mostly destroyed, and likewise several of the plantations. A great many of the inhabitants became the victims of this dreadful event. Thirty-four Drogers and American vessels have been captured off St. Barts, by his B.M. brigs Lora, & Mary, which have been blockading that port for some time, and sent to St. Thomas & Tortola for adjudication, among which is the Ship Ceres of New-York which has taken on the 1st May, within two gun's shots of the harbor. A French corvette fell in with one of his B. M gun Brigs between St. Barts & Antigua, on the nights of the 1st of May, and after a long and severe action the latter made her escape and arrived safe at St. Kitts, having sustained a great deal of damage, together with the loss of a number of her crew.
