Abstract
Felt report for the January 23, 1812 earthquake from Washington, D. C. “A letter from Washington, dated January 23, says “There has been two shocks of an Earthquake felt here to-day, one at 3 and the other at 9 o’clock. There has been a fissure in the canopy of the Capitol: it has become, at lest, one quarter of an inch wider in the breach.””
