Description
A ceramic effigy like this was once attached, upright, to the rims of ceramic vessels as rim effigies. These rim effigy sherds are often found at ancient Mississippian sites like Chucalissa, and given the location of these pieces on the complete Rim Effigy Vessels it is not difficult to imagine that these effigies were frequently broken off from the rest of the vessel.
