Formulation and Process Evaluation of a Domestic Violence Coordinated Community Response

Abstract

Coordinated Community Responses (CCR) incorporate criminal justice, social service, and other realms in responding to domestic violence cases. Academic-practitioner partnerships can provide guidance on designing and implementing an evaluation model centered around best practices, but little evidence exists on academic participation in such efforts. The current study highlights an example partnership developing a county-wide domestic violence task force, led by the academic team, to develop and implement a strategic plan for a CCR, and presents findings from a process evaluation conducted after the first year. A sequential mixed methods approach included qualitative interviews and a quantitative survey containing both the open-ended questions from the qualitative interviews, demographic questions, and three measures created to capture initial perceptions and experiences related to task force involvement. Overall, findings suggest participants were satisfied with task force involvement and progress and their role as part of the development of a strategic plan to create a CCR.
