The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) is legally required and ethically committed to protecting and improving the quality of Tennessee’s air, land, and water. The department meets its mission through managing regulatory programs that set standards for air, water, and soil quality; providing assistance to businesses and communities in areas ranging from recreation to waste management; and running a series of programs to inventory, interpret, and protect Tennessee’s rich natural, historical, and archaeological heritage.
