The Department of Children’s Services (DCS) was established in April 1996, through Tenn. Code Ann. § 37-5-101. DCS is tasked with protecting children who are victims of abuse or neglect, strengthening families through services that focus on support and treatment, providing permanency services to children in state custody, and developing community-driven solutions to challenges faced by young people
and their families.
