Abstract
The purpose of the current study was to research which ESL teaching methods have proven effective for adult ELLs. This study examines the various methods adult ESL teachers use in the mid-south. I interviewed three teachers from surrounding language centers for the most effective methods for teaching adult ELLs. this study considers teachers' challenges and problems with specific methods to teach adult English Language Learners (ELLs). We will explore more engaging methods for adults and keep the students returning. From my findings, I have discovered that all three teachers I have observed use the same successful methods. They use Scaffolding, Holistic methods, the Authentic method, and the Think-pair-share method.
