Abstract

This thesis is a collection of ten poems centered around the perspective of a Filipino American woman and her relationship to her ethnicity. The poems use a number of elements that are integral to the substance of a culture, such as food, language, and music, to properly convey the depth and the richness of Filipino life. Overall, the collection delves into the concept of identity and how it affects the way a person might personally navigate the world. By allowing Filipino culture and American culture to occupy the same space, one receives a distinct point of view that combines the two of them together.
