Abstract
The current study investigated differences in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), PTSD symptom clusters, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in women with multiple abusive romantic relationships (MARR) relative to women with a single abusive romantic relationship (SARR), and examined the effects that child abuse may have on these outcomes. No significant differences in the rate of diagnoses were revealed between women in MARR versus SARR groups with or without a history of child abuse. Results indicated that severity of PTSD, re-experiencing symptoms, and MDD were elevated among women with a history of child abuse compared to women without a history of child abuse. Results did not reveal significant differences between the MARR/SARR groups in diagnoses or severity.
