Abstract
In both developed and developing countries, continued efforts have always been channeled towards the improvement of life expectancy. Thus, leading to increased research on the causes of higher mortality rates, to get the best measures to be taken to reduce it. In most studies, such diseases as cancer, HIV/AIDS, and some chronic diseases have been identified as potential factors that lead to high mortality rates. Increased research on the cause has led to the development of highly effective measures that have helped reduce the mortality rate and achieve higher expectancy levels. There is however, insufficient information based on the impact that economic crises have on mortality rates. This paper aims to shed light on the relationship between economic crises and mortality rates. Thus it will, therefore, help come up with policies for reducing the mortality rate by influencing the risk of the economy to fall into the turndown trap.
