Abstract
The collection is composed of twenty letters written by Mary Helen "Nellie" Fitzgerald of Memphis, Tennessee, to William Fay, to whom she became secretly engaged in early 1897. Fay worked for Dixie Mills Cooperage of Memphis but travelled to Michigan, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas during the period of the correspondence from 1894 to 1897. The content of the letters mostly concern the daily activities of Nellie, her family and acquaintances.
