Description
View looking northwest of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company plant in Memphis, Tennessee, circa 1939. The factory opened in 1936 in the North Memphis neighborhood of New Chicago and became the largest tire-making plant in the world by the 1950s with 35 acres of floor space. It closed in 1983.
