Description

L.M. Stratton house, 1433 Union Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, 1922. Photographer: E.I. Philpot. The house was built for lumberman Rowland J. Darnell in 1907. A.R. Orgill bought it in 1917 and a year later it was sold to Leslie Martin Stratton (1881-1949) who lived there for the next five and a half years. Stratton was president of Stratton-Warren Hardware Company, Early-Stratton Company, Memphis Queensware Company, and Mississippi Valley Furniture Company. The house was bought by the Nineteenth Century Club in 1926.
