Description

Orpheum Theatre on the corner of Beale and Main Streets, Memphis, Tennessee, ablaze on October 17, 1923. A note on the verso of the image states the photograph was taken at 12:02 am. The fire, that destroyed the building, began after a show that featured the singer Blossom Seeley, as the marquee sign advertises. A new theater opened on the same site in 1928.
