Description
Supermarket pioneer Clarence Saunders at the opening of his first Keedoozle store in Memphis, Tennessee, February 1937. The first fully automated grocery store in the United States was a vending machine concept using keys. Unfortunately, the technology was not capable of delivering the service promised and the store closed within a few months. Saunders tried several times to make the concept work but each failed.
