Description
Following an opening ceremony led by Mayor Watkins Overton, traffic begins to flow over the South Third Street viaduct crossing the Illinois Central Railroad line in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 2, 1934. Also included is a photograph of Mayor Overton and his son, Samuel Watkins Overton, Jr., standing on the speaker's' platform. The mayor's son "yanked on a bow of colored ribbons" to officially open the viaduct.
