Description
In June 1954, a group of African American students attempted to gain admission to Memphis State College but were denied. This image was probably taken in the Administration Building. From left to right are: Dovie Booker, unidentified woman and man, Elijah Noel, Ruth Booker, Joseph McGhee, Jr., Mardest Knowles, and Nellie Peoples.
