Description

Egyptian temple stones brought to Memphis by Robert Galloway, chairman of the Memphis Park Commission, in 1917. The were on display at the zoo until the late 1960s then moved to the new City Hall. After that they were moved to the University of Memphis Egyptology Department. At the time of this photo zoo director, Raymond Gray, stated that he was glad that were going to be moved because "You don't really need ancient Egyptian monuments in a zoo."
