    Description

    In September 1916, Katherine Lawless attended the wedding of her friend Mary Evans Lampkin (1898-1984) in Starkville, Mississippi, as a bridesmaid. In this image, Katherine is third from left in the back row. The inscription reads: "The crowd at Miss Bertha's". On the verso an inscription reads: "Lampkin-Butts wedding party at Mrs. Scales". Mary married Alfred Benjamin Butts (1890-1962), a professor at Mississippi A & M College. Her wedding portrait is also included.
