Description
Paul A. Flowers and Lala Blaylock discuss a model of the Poplar Street, Memphis, Tennessee, crossing, built by the Illinois Central Railroad, on November 19, 1947. "Miss Lala" was guest of honor at Flowers' 4th annual Greenhouse party at the Peabody Hotel, sponsored by the City Beautiful Association. She was recognized for her efforts to beautify her downtown flag house. The photograph featured on p.25 of the November 20, 1947, edition of the Commercial Appeal newspaper.
