Description
A property lease document detailing how the Freedmen of the Department of West Tennessee will lease "the following property...Being the Botanical Medical College on Beale Street on lot number (14) in Block (62) In the City of Memphis, County of Shelby, and State of Tennessee...To be used as a school for the Freedmen of the Department of West Tennessee..." The first party was Henry G. Dent, Agent of Botanical Medical College and the second party was Captain T. A. Walker, Superintendent of Freedmen West Tennessee. The second party agreed to pay the first party $1200.00 payable in twelve equal installments from 1864 November 1 to 1865 November 1. The agreement was signed on 1864 November 1.
