Description
Official certificate of a commission appointing George W. Gordon commissioner for the state of Missouri. It is signed and sealed by Eugene F. Weigel, Missouri Secretary of State, on 1873 September 10.
George Washington Gordon (October 5, 1836-August 9, 1911) was a general in Confederate States Army, lawyer, school superintendent, congressman, and one of the first members of the Ku Klux Klan.
