Undated view of the house built in 1927 for John Sneed Williams, Jr. (1896-1972) at 542 East Parkway South, Memphis, by John Wright Johnson. The house is 4,227 square feet and contains thirteen rooms, including five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It was constructed inside and out in a rambling Tudor style, with uneven brickwork, tile floors, massive rough-hewn beams, hand-carved mantels, and creatures carved into the plaster door moldings. The house was subsequently owned by writer and Civil War historian, Shelby Foote.
