Description
An undated view of the house built for Mrs. Ellen Margarete "Nellie" Powers Pidgeon (1870-1964) by John Wright Johnson at Walnut Grove and Pidgeon Road, Memphis., Nellie's husband, James C. Pidgeon (1864-1941), bought the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Memphis in 1909. The family owned Magnolia Farms, (now Pidgeon Estates) which owned, bred and exhibited world class American Saddlebreds, such as 1947 World Grand Champion Three-Gaited Nellie Pidgeon and was home to prominent breeding sires.
