Promissory Note signed by Barney Mack to Alex M. Jones, 1874 February 2.

"One Day after Date I promise to pay Alex M. Jones on order one hundred dollars for a black horse on witness my mark this Feby the 2nd - 1874. Witness J. F. Goodrich. Barney Mack, my mark".

"Recd May 11th - 1874 on the within note in work Seventeen Dollars & 20 cts. Alex M. Jones".

This collection consists of correspondence, business documents, and personal papers and belongings owned by Alexander M. Jones, a Confederate soldier, Sarah “Sallie” J. Jones, and their extended families. The Joneses and their extended families lived in the Southern United States pre-, peri-, and post-Civil War.
