This and other campus structures built during this period reflect some of Louis Kahn's motifs.

Architect Louis I. Kahn became a prominent figure in American architecture in the 1960's as he re-introduced humanistic considerations in his solid and eternal forms. The massing of his structures was composed of solids with voids carved into them as opposed to the Miesian concept of thin skinned skeletal buildings. While simple geometric form and the straightforward use of natural materials characterize his works, philosophical considerations in organizing building parts and services, and his poetic expression of space, substance, and form are spiritually evident.
