The consequence of uncontrolled development.
The automobile society which has developed inspired a new kind of architecture, as none before had been designed to respond to high-speed movement and sprawling highway settings. Thematic or Popular Culture architecture is sign-symbol-oriented. The building becomes its own sign. While it will not necessarily be unattractive, uncontrolled prolific development of these forms results in confusion where clarity was the intent. These structures are no less an expression of the cultural standards of their time than any relic of antiquity.
