Description
The location of the first of the Holiday Inn chain of hotels was at 4941 Summer Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. It was started in 1952 by Memphian Kemmons Willson and his business partner, Wallace Johnson, and was the first hotel chain to feature the same quality and characteristics from hotel to hotel. Holiday Inn rewrote the book for family travel in the post-World War II era.
