Description
"Mothers of the Disappeared" is a title given to women who have had family and children "forcibly disappeared" during times of political upheaval in Central and South America. This group of women in Matagalpa, Nicaragua have lost family to the Contras rebels during the Contra-Sandinista conflict. Photograph was taken by Mary Ruth Robinson and featured in “The African Connection: Images from the Americas” exhibition in 1991.
