    Description

    Front page (p.321) of "Harper's Weekly", 10:491, published on May 26, 1866, with two "Scenes in Memphis, Tennessee, During the Riot", later termed the Memphis Massacre. The first is titled "Burning a freedmen's school-house" and the second "Shooting down Negroes on the morning of May 2, 1866". Both were by Alfred Rudolph Waud (1828-1891).
